Comparison of power inductors made of two wire and one wire
1. Chip power inductance resistance value
The resistance value of power inductor of single wire wound chip is 90m Ω
The resistance value of the power inductor of the two-wire wound chip is 50m Ω
By comparing the two, it can be found that the DCR (resistance) of single wire wound chip inductor is significantly higher than that of double wire wound chip inductor.
In general, the smaller the DCR of the chip power inductor, the higher the rated current supported by the inductor. Therefore, the chip power inductor with two-wire winding can be used in the circuit with higher current.
2. Temperature rise current of chip power inductor
According to the test data in advance, the temperature rise current of single wire wound chip power inductor is tested, and the change rate of 4A current is 20% in 5 minutes
The temperature rise current of the chip power inductor with two-wire winding was tested, and the change rate of 4A current was 5% in 5 minutes
Obviously, the temperature rise current of the SMT power inductor with two wire winding is larger than that with one wire winding.
As a reference data, the temperature rise current is transformed into the actual expression in the circuit, which is adapted to the circuit mutation environment. The chip power inductor with two wire winding can deal with the sudden high current.
3. Fabrication comparison of chip power inductor
From the picture, we can not see how the winding process of the two inductors is.
Chip power inductor
However, by careful comparison, we can find that the power inductor of two-wire winding is smoother and more meticulous than that of one-wire winding. This is due to the material selection and unique production process of the two-wire wound chip inductor. Compared with using a single enameled wire and adopting the full-automatic production process, the two-wire wound chip power inductor uses two enameled wires of the same size. The semi-automatic production process makes the appearance of the two-wire wound chip power inductor better.
